Just thinking.......
There is a Chinese proverb that says if you own more than seven things, the things will own you.
How on earth did we manage to collect so much STUFF!?!?!
Packing and moving boxes after boxes has made me think about what we really value in life.
Are we trapped thinking consumerism is the equation of personal happiness with consumption and the purchase of material possessions? Have we been trying to "Keeping up with the Joneses" with a desire to be seen as being as good as one's neighbours or contemporaries using the comparative benchmarks of social caste or the accumulation of material goods? Or are we showing hoarding behavior as a common response to fear, whether fear of imminent society-wide danger or simple fear of a shortage of some good? Or maybe we were simply preparing just in case the world decides to switch over to Star Wars action figures currency??I am definitely ready for a fresh new start and it feels good to declutter and re-evaluate what we are storing and bringing into our new home.


With a little help from your friends
Friday Feb 20th we had a rental truck and we had friends asking us if they could help us moving. It was overwhelming to have 16 strong men show up at the door. In one hour they were able to empty our old house and emptying the truck went like a blast once we made it to our new house. I am so grateful for good friends!

Unpacking the boxes is another story, though... I am still going through boxes trying to organize things around here....
